Friday News Post
I am happy to announce the return of the Friday news post! Here are ten relevant stories from the interwebs:
1. Laws put sex workers at risk
I find this a bit interesting in that it is not a perspective commonly heard.
2. Jordan: Human trafficking committee reviews draft law
It's short, but it does show that some of the MENA countries are beginning to take definite strides forward on these human rights issues.
3. Christians urge Home Office to reconsider human trafficking budget cuts
It seems that budget cuts haven't been limited to our side of the pond; if this goes through, it'll be a pretty public case of one step forward, two steps back.
4. Flesh trade exposed by star singer
I always appreciate the involvement of celebrities in efforts to protect children in tangible ways.
5. Draft bill takes aim at human traffickers
It's good to see some forward movement in one of the smaller Asian nations. That said, one of my roomates at university was from Taiwan; he made it very clear to me that they have a much better human rights history than some other nations in that area.
6. Baby P: the story of Haringey whistleblower Nevres Kemal
7. Nebraska Begins Session On 'Safe Haven' Law
8. Victims of clergy sexual assault need support
9. Save the Children on Community Drama
10. Sex Crime Sexism in Idaho?
