A Year in the Life of an Editor
So, it was one year ago today that I came on here at G.W. Medical; we've seen a lot of changes since then, and hope to see many more in the coming year. We instituted this blog, released our first accredited training curriculum, created online education opportunities, and have worked with our authors to finish up two new titles, Intimate Partner Violence and Child Fatality Quick Reference, and to move forward on a host of others.
We had hoped to have both of those titles out by the end of the year, but the technical constraints of preparing a book for press mean that, while they are already essentially finished, it will be a bit longer before we see them come in within their glorious brown boxes.
In the year that I've been here, I've been able to travel around the country (and even to Canada) to meet with our authors and our customers and to show off the many fine products we have produced here at G.W. Medical. I've been to San Diego, Los Angeles, Huntsville, Vancouver, and Indianapolis for conferences, training events, and one rather inspiring trade show. I've learned a lot in my travels, both about the field and about myself - most notable in our Missouri winter is the fact that I am very much in love with California's Christmas Season. Also, Vancouver has some great food and L.A., while nice enough, was not as intimidating as I had expected. They did have a branch of a Japanese beef bowl restaurant there, though, which I wish desperately to have had an opportunity to enjoy. Perhaps next time.
To cut my ramblings short, I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful winter - I'm already looking forward to the spring.
